third gender

Picture
with Alexa le Fey
Throughout the ages, many cultures have attributed sacrosanctity towards people who identify their gender as between the dualities of masculine and feminine. Third gender peoples, also known as transgender peoples, have been called upon as healers, shamans, and spiritual workers of all kinds. All of humanity carries the energies of the masculine and feminine ourselves, mixing them in how we express our thoughts and feelings. Those who embody third genders take their expressions to the next level, removing themselves from the physical majority binary of male-bodied/female-bodied to glean and share perspectives that can only be attained outside of polar subjectives (such as male and female).

This workshop will take the form of a talk, followed by a discussion.

Very restorative to the body, this style of flowing moves us off the yoga mat and utilizes a larger area than traditional yoga. We will also incorporate some movement patterns that build useable mobility and strength, along with some tai chi and pranayama style breathing techniques, and working on using the condensing and opening of the diaphragm to let the poses teach your body to breath without effort. A small amount of chakra points will be worked into the opening Prasara style sun salutations.
